CDPH, “It’s Up To Me” Teen Pregnancy Prevention Campaign

The campaign’s goal was to reduce the teen birth rate among all racial/ethnic groups in the state while increasing awareness among males of their responsibility in preventing pregnancies. We developed an award-winning statewide social marketing campaign that utilized extensive media relations and community outreach to disseminate messages and educate the target population about teen pregnancy prevention strategies. The work included bilingual educational materials; contests for teens resulting in posters and postcards; teen rallies involving CBOs, schools and local leaders; technical assistance to Family PACT staff; and the development of a Family PACT desktop presentation that served as an outreach tool for clinics and CBOs to describe the services available to potential clients.
